Darren LaCroix World Champion of Public Speaking Shares an Evening with Toastmasters

On Monday, December 12, 2011 District 13 Toastmasters welcomed special guest–2001 World Champion of Public Speaking, Business Owner, Public Speaker and fellow Toastmaster–Darren LaCroix to the Eat ‘N Park Leadership Training Center at the Waterfront in Homestead. He helped us discover how to use public speaking to improve our skills, earn more and grow our membership and customer base within our clubs and our businesses, respectively. District 13 Toastmasters listened intently to the benefits of speaking outside of their clubs. Namely, Toastmasters speaking outside of their clubs step outside of their comfort zone as well as use their voice to effectively deliver their message to wider audiences. It is a win-win! More people get a chance to know about Toastmaasters and Toastmasters get to experience speaking to organizations beyond the club. Thank you Darren for leaving District 13 Toastmasters with lots of very useful advice and practical suggestions. We are also appreciative and excited about our first official collaboration with the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Speakers Association (NSA). A special thanks to the 2011-2012 President of the National Speakers Association (NSA) Pittsburgh Chapter–Karen Litizinger–for making this event a reality. Thank you Karen!

Our very own Carol Hamilton–member of New Castle’s First toastmasters club, Competent Communicator, Competent Leader, author and National Speakers Association member–wrote an article on December 13, 2011 summarizing Darren’s visit to District 13 Toastmasters for the examiner.com (the online version of the Pittsburgh Christian Living Examiner).
